Currently rail labor is held up over FIVE UNPAID sick days so the engineers and conductors can schedule a day they know they will not be on call to come into work. As it stands Currently they will be marked as absent and penalties will be incurred leading all the way to termination.
So even if you have no skin in the game for rail labor but support the fight for workers to have a better quality of life and a work life balance that is acceptable please please have your friends, family, extended family reach out to your local congressional representative and ask them to support a congressional action that favors rail LABOR.
There is so much mis information about time off etc that just isn't true, for a new hire it can take up to two years to get just 5 days of paid time off. Otherwise an attendance policy that is points based is in place.
