First time posting here but for context, I'm a truck unloader at Walmart and the conditions we work in are outright hazardous. We have a thrower who is inside the trailer and sorters who pick boxes off the automated sorter to put them onto their pallets, simple enough right. Well, the people that go inside of the trailers such as myself work with zero safety gear in hastly filled trailers with hazardous stacking because distribution center employees are required to meet time quotas. I was inside of the trailer and pulled a box down to put it onto the conveyor and a box fell from the top of the trailer and hit me on the side of the head, keep in mind as i said we work with zero safety equipment. I was knocked to the ground and got up feeling disoriented and had blurred vision and filled out an incident report. After this I was told by the stocking manager/coach (yes walmart, giving management names like “people lead, coach and team lead” really makes them more family like) that it was my fault because apparently some mystic power determined I will be able to see every hazard and guess its weight with the only light being a dim light under the conveyor. Ffs, I can't wait until my only option for getting above $10/h locally isn't walmart.
