I’m a Canadian for some context so this is in relation to Service Canada/EI.
My boss told me they were no longer able to schedule me due to budget concerns and so I applied for EI and requested my ROE. When I requested my ROE my boss stated they would only be able to submit it if I resigned and tried to bully me into quitting for days. At the end of this despite me refusing to quit, they told me they were submitting it that I quit anyway and Service Canada can fight them.
I reported that to Service Canada and requested my ROE through them. My employer, however, submitted my ROE a month into my request with the proper code on it instead of lying that I quit like they threatened.
I’m sure it will all work out, but I’m livid that it’s been over a month and I have nothing. My internet has been cut, I’ve missed two car payments, things like that. And the money I’ll eventually get from EI doesn’t make up this month of eating white bread and nothing else. (I know I should have savings for things like this, next time)
I’ve tried reporting to EI but they have the documents now and won’t do an investigation. I’ve thought of a lawyer but I’m so broke. Any advice or am I just wasting my time wanting revenge?
