I have been so lucky with my work , i am very well compensated, respected and valued. I work with a small business directly under the owner. The reason i am in this sub because as lucky as i am my husband was not, he has worked for big corporations and treated just a statistic.
Anyways, my boss(owner) is so impressed with me that he wanted to have always partnered with me and even offered me to be a partner to his current business (bookkeeping) i have passed this opportunity because i do not see the value of it as of now.
I have been with him 3 years, bringing to now, we finally found a business we can partner 50/50, (small gift shop revenue of shy of $500k with 4 part time employees) . This is really a great opportunity for us . From employee to being an employer. I want to treat our employees that way i wanted to be treated. Currently they are paid 25% above minimum . We definitely want to increase their pay, but as a small business we also have to make sure business is healthy. The current income of the business is just as if the business owner is getting paid $30/hr full time. we have plans to grow the business, while we are working on increasing the net income of the business, any advice on how employees can feel appreciated or valued without increasing their pay immediately? We are taking over the business the end of the year
