Probably not popular, but…

I just did my first 12 hour day at my new job, and even though it was more hours than I'm used to, it didn't feel like it at all. I posted (from another account) about a job interview I had a couple months back. It was about 70-80% pay increase (depending on monthly bonuses) for a job with very similar responsibilities to my old one, but also a lot less actual responsibility. Well, I got it. Took a while to get, which was a bit frustrating, but for the pay increase, a worthwhile change since they didn't run me through multiple interviews and blah blah blah. I worked today from 4:30am until 4:15pm, but half of the day was spent driving between work locations, and I spent probably 6 hours *actually* working. I worked today from 4:30am until 4:15pm, but half of the day was spent driving between work locations, and I spent probably 6 hours *actually* working. So yes, I did a 12 hour day, but my god, it didn't feel like it. I was allowed to take personal calls, handle some important stuff there, and still got my job done in a reasonable timeframe.

My bosses also stress that we are absolutely NOT to work off the clock, the pay was told to me up front (and was actually raised when they gave me the offer letter). They gave me a phone and tablet that I am *absolutely NOT* to use while not on the clock.

I don't feel like I have a real point, and I'm kinda just rambling, but holy shit. I feel like I've hit the jackpot with this gig. The mindless, tiresome slog that I've become used to for the past 15 years is seemingly finally over. All my coworkers are legitimately happy, and everyone seems extremely supportive. I'm thrilled, y'all. I'm still making under 100k, but from 34k pre-tax to nearly 75k pre-tax is a huge jump.
