Probation is a scam

So I recently managed to get a job as an opticial assistant and quit my job as head barista to start this new exciting job. I had been at this job for 2 weeks on the dot where I had learned the equipment, made friends and did over 40 hours of online training. I had already decided I would like to train as a lab technician after gaining experience in the field. On my first week I had met a new guy who then told me they had been trying to get to join for months and he finally gave in. At that time I thought it was strange how they (the directors of the store ) hadn’t spoken to me since my first day and hadn’t spoken to me about uniform . Today 30 minutes before the work day had ended and I was about to do some appointment…

Today 30 minutes before the work day had ended and I was about to do some appointment confirmation calls for end of day the directors told me to come into a room where they told me due to staffing issues they need to let me go I didn’t question it further stupidly because I was in so much shock I was shaking and trying not to cry. They then told me to go now and not stay until the end of the day meaning I had to then go past every member of staff in a walk of shame leaving early.

I think probation should have a contracted period to the employer for like a month or two where they actually let their new hire actually get comfortable with the job (especially as my role was posted as trainee) unless any real concerns because I am now unemployed and can’t afford to live now… I can’t even put this role on my cv because they will see I have been got rid of and will think I have done some thing to cause it .
