So one of my former 'kids' dropped by yesterday just to shoot the shit and have a beer.
As we caught up he told me about his new job. $23 an hour, 12 hour shifts 3 days a week, normally 5 to 10 hours of OT a week, and it's way easier than slinging groceries.
I told him how happy I was for him and he should be proud of himself. He said 'I'd have never found that job if you hadn't told me I was better than the job we were doing. You taught me how to look out for myself and know my value. I owe you man'.
Maybe not most current or former managers and, when he left, it was a bitch for me. But THAT was always my goal. Help my 'kids' find and better themselves.
Money is one reward. Making a real positive difference in someones life is a bigger one to me.
Sorry this isn't really 'antiwork' but I wanted to share 🙂
