Everytime I join a new organization it baffles me that people don't save their own work to add to their portfolio. This is a great practice to follow every few months. I make sure that the work that I'm part of is always saved on my own USB key. I'm very well aware of the intellectual property clauses in contract but they are extremely hard to enforce. Just in case anything happens and you get locked out of your computer you have a back up of all your work that can be used when looking for your next opportunity.
