Put in two weeks notice, but they want me to leave a week earlier?

Kind of sucks to be courteous and lose out on a week of pay. I put in my two weeks by email, but they're having me turn in my equipment in a week. Is there anything I can do to get my missed weeks pay, or am I just screwed? U.S. based.
