So, after 6 years of exemplary performance, and a recent promotion, I was put on a PIP. I have never had any disciplinary action needed in my history at this company. The PIP was in response to not following a newly enforced protocol that actually decreased the quality of my work and my productivity, which I am highly critical of. I made it known to my employer that due to multiple disabilities, I struggled with the protocol, so I opted to do things in a way that still allowed me to do my best work that wasn't detrimental in any way except my workplace bully found it annoying (I was promoted to the position they were demoted from). I have been doing it this way for 4 years. I'm so disheartened. I was able to schmooze my way out of immediate demotion, but I feel so betrayed, especially since my boss struggles with some of the same disabilities I do. A reasonable accommodation under the ADA would cost the company nothing. I thought I was a good employee and was so proud of the work I do. Now my self worth is in the toilet, stress levels are so high that I'm more ill. I don't know what to do. I can barely hold my head up anymore.
Edited to add: Several people openly refuse to follow this protocol. I'm the only one being disciplined for it.
