Is it even legal for an employer to put someone on medical leave without TELLING them they’re being put on medical leave?
Backstory: I worked a Subway in my town for almost a year, and we went through three different managers. The first two were very kind with me about my physical disabilities/illnesses. I don’t have a car yet (which is why I was working there-) so I walked about 20 minutes daily to and from work. However, when my skin condition and arthritis started flaring up because my medications weren’t working, I had about three weeks were I could barely walk a block, and I had to find people to cover most of my shifts. After those weeks, my new boss took me off of the next schedule completely and did not tell me. I was going to ask him about it, but when I asked someone to cover my last shift of the previous schedule, she said ‘no I won’t, this is why you’re on medical leave.’, and I haven’t been put back on the schedule since. This was nearly 4 months ago. My boss never called, responded to my texts, emailed, nothing. I don’t even know if I’ve been technically fired or not. I just need some advice I guess.
TL;DR: My boss put me on medical leave because I kept getting shifts covered.
