I keep hearing there's a “shortage of truckers” out there in the US.
But, is there really?
Curious for some folks in the industry (drivers in particular) to chime-in.
What I've heard is that there is a actually a glut of licensed drivers. But, they hourly pay is misleading because there are many hours they are not paid for (like while waiting for stuff to be loaded / unloaded, etc.)? and hours that generally suck? and that trucking companies (and training companies) keep perpetuating the “shortage” myth to keep driving costs down?
Any drivers / Teamsters can clarify?
