Question about what is legally considered on the clock

My job recently made a policy change where we are being asked to clock out at the desk before leaving the building. Under most circumstances this might seem quite reasonable, but the path we have to walk through this building is about a mile long and takes about 10 minutes if you can walk quickly. If we were allowed to park near the emergency exit doors and exit through them at the end of the day, it wouldn't be an issue, but since I still have to be on-site for another 10 minutes after clocking out, it's hard to not feel like my time is being wasted and hours are being stolen from me. Is there anything legally I can pursue here? Or are they fully within their right to make us walk 10 minutes unpaid? Thanks in advance for any and all insight.
