Question for customers – would you think it unprofessional to see an employee drinking a bottle of water on the shop floor?

Genuine curiousity. I have 3 managers total, 2 male 1 female (oh I'm female btw in case this gets any accusations of sexism). The male bosses are chill, really nice people, but the female, oh god, we all despise her. The atmosphere is totally different when she's in. She is an absolute mizzog, hypocrite, micromanager who was kicked from her old job for bullying and feels the need to lord it over us, even in front of the customers. Today's petty shit? I grabbed my water from behind the back and had a swig to clear my throat. Water, not fizzy, not juice. A customer approached, she wasn't yet at the till, and she told me to put it away in front of the customer. Then after I'd served she told me to not drink front of house. I'd understand if it was soda or even a cup of tea…

I'd understand if it was soda or even a cup of tea (one of the male bosses will literally make you a cup of tea and put it behind the counter for you because he's actually a decent person) but honestly it baffles me, because she can be on her phone on the shop floor and in the office eating most of the day, but I have to step behind to drink and then if I'm not on the shop floor, I'd get a bollocking.

I'm just curious to see if any person really does have an issue with someone drinking a drink of water in their vicinity. I know I bloody wouldn't, especially on a hot day like today and I've never before had a customer go “how dare you take a sip of water before you serve me”.

Idk, sorry for the rant, work's just really pissing me off today and this was kind of the final straw.
