On October 31st, I'm pulled into a Zoom meeting talking about how I'm doing “substandard work” & if I don't improve in three months, I would be let go. I work in remote medical sales & I had seven returns that month, which brought me to negative one. Most were due to hurricane losses & illness, so you can't get mad at that.
I was livid. Just in June, I was one of the MVPs for sales, but I have one bad month & they want to fire me? My friend that works higher up told me the company has been tanking due to bad business decisions & they're taking it out on consultants. They know the holidays are the worst for business EVERY year, but they blame us. Like yeah, you lost one million dollars last quarter & that's somehow my fault? Blame hurricane Ian & Covid!
On Monday, they spoke to me again & said they didn't think my performance in the last two weeks was good enough, so I had until the end of the month to “turn it around.” I also went off on one of my bosses when he questioned if I really wanted to be here, as if I chose for customer issues to happen. I stood up for myself & he basically said the problem is me because other people are doing well. Of course they do when you're marketing their stuff better than mine!
Little do they know I already started training for a new job since last week & they're helping to pay for my certification that I can use anywhere, even for independent work. Just in the door & I already found a better company with more benefits.
I miss what this company used to be. I'll always be grateful for the help & knowledge I got over the past 18 months, but seeing how they turn on people so quickly & lie about what they're doing is too much. When they try to drop me at the end of the month, I'll already have my plans in place & middle finger at the ready!
