So about 2 weeks ago I started a new work from home job, this job had 4 weeks of training as stated in the offer letter and then we would start our real positions. Also mentioned in the offer letter is that we would get any holidays that fell during training off, as we are not eligible for holiday pay until after the 30 days was up. Last week a few of my coworkers in my training brought this up to our trainers who brushed us off and said that we must work on Labor Day despite what our offer letter says. A few of us grew annoyed because we had signed a legal document of our employment terms and we’re now being told the opposite. Instead of honoring our offer letter, the “angry” people (ones who had questions about the fact that they lied to us), we’re placed in a breakout zoom with an HR rep who essentially talked over us, cut us off, and told us “any company our size will have changes in documents regularly”. The HR rep went above and beyond to make sure we felt like shit for even having questions to begin with. I understand changing a policy, but usually you would let the employees know if this change, and our offer letters were only a month or so old. The HR rep admitted it was his fault, but still talked down to us for questioning the company and then told us we are welcome not to show up for Labor Day but that it would result in termination. Okay dude. I’m not gonna stay at a company that uses fear and authority when called out for a mistake on their part. I did not attend work today and i’m looking for other jobs. Unfortunately it seems like being a disrespectful ass is the norm for any corporate possession. If anyone has recommendations on companies who respect when their own employees have concerns i’d love to hear them.
