Quit or get fired?

Apologies if this has been discussed, but I’m in a sticky situation. Essentially a department at my job is being integrated into the larger company, and my small team is no longer needed. They’ve offered me another role that I’d have to train / work for all while working my current job until that integration happens and I become obsolete. The new role is horrible and I’d be incredibly miserable – my manager would also be this witch of woman. Should I simply wait until my role becomes obsolete and see what other roles may be available besides this shit role they are currently offering? Or would it make sense to stay as long as I can until getting fired and collect unemployment while I apply for new roles? Or should I just flat out quit and apply for new roles and save myself the stress, I do need income…
