Quitting a toxic work environment and couldn’t be more excited!!

Tldr: company cutting my benefits after they agreed to let me cut my hours, quitting on Monday with a better job offer in hand. Long time lurker first time posting. But basically as the title indicates! I work in a very demanding field as well as in grad school and am one of my companies top performers (work with the most difficult cases, rarely say no or ask to be taken off a case. All while making similar money to coworkers that work much easier workloads). In the almost two years I’ve been there, they’ve gone back on their word on pay increases, workload, etc. I recently decided to cut my hours because my mental health was deteriorating and I needed a break – mainly because capitalism sucks and I’m burnt out by being alive right now. Long time lurker first time posting. But basically as the title indicates! I work in a very demanding field as well as in grad school and am one of my companies top performers (work with the most difficult cases, rarely say no or ask to be taken off a case. In the almost two years I’ve been there, they’ve gone back on their word on pay increases, workload, etc. I recently decided to cut my hours because my mental health was deteriorating and I needed a break – mainly because capitalism sucks and I’m burnt out by being alive right now. Company agreed, and they offered to let me “buy” some of my benefits (tuition reimbursement, PTO/Paid Holidays) for a slightly lower pay rate. Okay cool, it worked out better for me in the long run.

They come in this week saying because of increase cost of living, they’re not longer able to offer me those benefits and can increase my pay by $1.50 instead. Soon as he started talking, I knew I was done. Started applying to jobs Thursday and already have an offer for $2 more than their highest offer and have 3 more interviews lined up. Putting in my notice Monday and never looking back!
