Well, my manager assistant got sick with rona three days ago. I was supposed to be free on Friday and Saturday, but i got called in. No problem, I think.
Friday rolls in and I am at work, when I get a call from my manager, telling me about how I need to work Saturday.

I tell her: “Sorry, but on Saturday I can only work till 4 pm. I have plans afterwards.”

Because if you can recall, I had the idea I was going to be free, and thus, made plans.

She loses it. “What do you mean you have plans? What kind of plans do you have?”

I say. “Sorry, but I really can't work afterwards.”

“Well that's not nice. It's my birthday, I don't wanna work the whole day.”

“I'm really sorry. That's all I can do. Did you call the other mini jobbers too?”

(Keep in mind that one of the mini jobbers only works 1 day this week)

“No I didn't” she replies. “I'm going to have to now.”

What I don't understand is why she would call me, knowing that I already have so much overtime, and not the minijobber that would APPRECIATE working more.

Now onto the revenge.

This had not been the first time my manager was rude and passive-aggressive with me. I had had enough.

Next day during my break at work, I visit one of the jewelry shops on the same street. I enter and my glance briefly brushes over a sign: Looking for employees.

I grin. I talk to the manager at that place. She is in need of more help. I tell her I will return with my application.

The ball starts rolling.

Next day comes and I put in my application before heading to work. To my surprise, the manager there wants to schedule an interview the next day. Which I take. And so rolls in the day of the interview where everything goes smoothly. They WANT me.

The next day I nicely place my Notice on the table next to my manager (she was in a meeting call) before I leave work.

I arrive home, place my phone down, and wait. To no one’s surprise, it starts ringing.

I answer. “Hello?”

M: “Hello. What did I just find on my table?”

I: “My notice.”

M: “mhm. How come? Why? You have such a nice future with us.”

I: “It’s because I would like to try some other stuff in my life. Experience other things.”

M: “mhm. What kind of other things? You do realize that even if you want to do so, you’ll still need a job.”

I: “yes I do.”

M: “well, you’re quitting at a very bad time. I’d rather you quit next month. Your colleague is sick right now, and I would be having to deal with the store on my own.”

I: “And I’m sorry. But I can’t. I’m on tight time.”

M: “So you did already find a new job?

I: “yes.”

M: “well, this is not appropriate at all, but I’ll see what I can do. You do realize that you still have to work the week, yes?”

I: “And I can’t help you till the rest of the week.”

Click.

The end of the week rolls in and I notice, she planned me for the next 4 weeks still, although I have 50 h overtime and 2 weeks of holiday left for the year. I send her a message regarding the situation. I get a call back with the same pettiness and passive-aggressiveness.

So I decide to write the higher ups.

Now I’m on my last week of work and have 23 days of holiday AND a new job that pays better.
She now has to deal with not having enough employees to go through the day. If only she had been nicer to me, I would have stayed to help.

Heh.
