So just like the title says, I work at a place that doesn’t necessarily require heavy lifting but we get food deliveries and what not every week that needs to be put away. I’ve recently been promoted so putting one of the deliveries that comes to my department is my responsibility, However the delivery has to be brought down to the basement. I work at 6:00 am and every delivery day I’ve shown up the order has already been delivered but left outside because no one unlocks the door when the delivery man comes. So every week I’ve had to bring 20 heavy boxes of various milks, syrups, food items etc one by one all the way from outside to the basement… I’m quitting because I’m not doing that anymore. I’ve spoken to management about leaving a note or something for the driver so that they can bring it downstairs on the Dolly that they deliver it on, or for the employee who shows up before me to watch out for the delivery guy and unlock the door for him but I’ve just been given excuses. It sucks that anyone has to do a job with heavy lifting but I know those people get paid a lot more than I do for that.
