Quitting my underpaid, soul crushing job and only giving one days notice during a time they desperately need coverage.

-TLDR satisfying moment at the bottom- In about an hour, I'll be giving a resignation notice to an unbelievably shitty job that will no longer rob me of my 20s, and tomorrow will be my last day at the company. I almost can't believe that I finally snapped and decided to quit, it feels surreal, and that's honestly precisely why I know I'm making the right decision. Companies always have a way of making people feel trapped and that they can't ever do better and that their labor isn't worth more. Well fuck that. I was offered a job at a smaller company that's going to be paying me almost $15,000 more per year than I make right now, and for the first time ever I will actually have consistent weekends off and fair hours, and no longer will have to miss out and be left behind by my friends…

But that's not even the best part.

-TLDR-
In my department, we have been struggling and begging for additional coverage for well over two years. (we're already short one person and they refuse to add another to save money) so nobody has been able to take days off. I requested to management A MONTH AND A HALF in advance for ONE DAY off my usual schedule to move houses next week and do my new walkthrough, and it was denied, as of course nobody else in my department is willing to cover. Well, in about an hour they're about to find out that they won't have the coverage for the weekend because I'm not showing up, and I'm going to be moving my house instead. If only a few days notice is enough for you to make mandatory changes to my schedule, then you only get a few days notice to find coverage when your good employees are finally sick of your bullshit after so many years. Karma is a bitch.
