Quitting over text

This is a weird one but I have decided to leave my job due to some complications in my personal life, but more due to the fact that the company has been fucking me around for over two months now. I ended up calling out last week for the week because I got sick of their shit after finishing a 14 hour shift and being told my job was easy so I shouldn’t mind. I was hired on to work 8’s but they always have you work 10+, usually 12. They also switched me departments by peer pressuring me to do so on multiple occasions eventually forcing me to shift out of my original department and then jump departments twice more. I have a lot of gripes about this job and it’s gotten to the point when I am financially stable enough to quit. My problem is, this place doesn’t…

My problem is, this place doesn’t let people quit. I had a buddy leave last fall who quit and they had him come up to head office once he gave his two weeks for a two hour meeting with the owner to pressure him into staying longer. Had a coworker quit on the spot due to frustrating about not being allowed to cancel jobs when they are over booked on the Friday afternoon but the owner sucked them back by Monday. I’m trying to get out of this industry as well because I am a younger guy and I don’t want o get stuck being a pool boy. I plan on just texting my soon to be former boss that I quit but I’m being told this is unprofessional? These people don’t give good references, and I don’t ever want to work for this owner again, so is there any real downside to just texting my boss then avoiding being dragged into a big confrontation with the owner?

Sorry for the rant but I need the advice.
