Quitting to go to school, boss lowballing potential applicants

I work in healthcare and am leaving a smaller practice to work in another one because they offered me more money and I can work per diem and focus mostly on school. My boss at the small practice posted my position on multiple platforms and had a few applicants, but that was as far as it went. Boss started on the typical “no one wants to work!” grind but I looked up the posting and they’re only offering $14-$15 an hour. There are baristas down the street making $18!! My position is also very demanding, they ask for you to come in on your days off occasionally and expect that you do even if it’s last minute. I just needed to vent because I am soooooo tired of this whole “no one wants to work!!” Narrative. Like yes working sucks, but also being underpaid sucks more and people are starting to realize that! We want to work, just not for you.
