rant about my local burlington

I applied to Burlington in south suburbs of Chicago IL when they posted a sign on the main road. It took a month to schedule a phone interview after I had applied. The manager I was talking to offer $12/hr for a sales floor associate position for FULL TIME. The manager I was talking to was going to be the one for our new store and was laughing the whole time, and put me on hold twice for some reason? I asked what the benefits were of full time, esp with it only at $12/hr and being expected to work when needed and on holidays. He just responded: yeah there were benefits and didn't explain further. The manager I was talking to offer $12/hr for a sales floor associate position for FULL TIME. The manager I was talking to was going to be the one for our new store and was laughing the whole time, and put me on hold twice for some reason?

He asked some simple interview Q's and I had brought up my attending college and he immediately switched to trying to get me off the phone and not offer any employment.

I told him MULTIPLE times I need steady work while attending college. I've worked 2 jobs and attended a nursing program at the same time. Literally just needing a job with consistent hours and at least minimum wage.

So the manager offered me a part time position for the same rate and I'm debating taking it now. I'm still reeling from the phone interview convo that took maybe 7 minutes.

What the heck? Not only the dollar amount but it was extremely unprofessional and maybe if I bike from where I live (not longer than 10min), I could save more pennies on the dollar. Everyone's telling me not to do retail but no other jobs I've applied to have even sent me back a rejection letter.
