Tldr at bottom
I feel bad even thinking about quitting because a friend helped me get the job, and the guys I work with are great. But I'm mad because after starting I've already had my employer go against his word and I'm sick of putting up with bosses that say one thing and do another.
When I started this job I made sure to ask my current employer about some concerns of mine because of some shitty experiences I had with my former boss and because I had heard mixed things about my current boss.
One thing I had asked him before I started was if I was ever going to be called into work without a notice. My boss told me “you'll never be called in on short notice, you'll have a heads up when you have to work”.
Well guess what? I was asked to come in on my day off and move some things around. Which wasn't anything hard to do but the fact that this happened even though I was told it wouldn't really bothers me.
A couple other things that bother me is the fact that where I'm working now there is poor communication on how things should be done that's led to me doing things wrong (even though I was originally told to do things another way).
Lastly my boss currently pays me hourly. But wants to move me to salary when things get busier so he won't have to pay me overtime for 50-60 hour weeks. I recognize that this is a shitty thing to do plus we haven't discussed a salary yet. I've already done the math on what would be a fair salary to me. And I was willing to quit if I didn't get that salary. But now I'm questioning if I should even stick around that long to find out.
Tldr.. my boss has poor communication skills that's led to me doing thing wrong (which I was originally told was the right way to do them). He has gone against his word that I wouldn't be called in on short notice (he called me in on day off). And he wants to put me on salary to save him money so he doesn't have to pay overtime when things get busy.
