The company that I work for announced that after two years of working from home, we are returning to office. I have only been working at this company for like 9 months (completely remote). Since the pandemic, I have worked exclusively WFH jobs and now i feel a sense of deep panic and discomfort at the thought of going back in office.
Mind you, I also have to commute thirty minutes to the office and be surrounded by people that I haven’t ever seen before. I don’t know how to operate in an office environment. With COVID cases increasing, I am deeply worried about being back in office and feel like it’s for nothing. Our productivity is LITERALLY THE SAME, regardless of setting.
Also, I don’t work for a healthcare company or a more serious sector that would require in person work. To me, it seems like they just want to get back on their investment of the office. I feel even worse for co workers of mine who have kids, who live farther me from the office, have certain disabilities, etc. Just with everything in the world, this is what you’re gonna do? Now?
I am scared to complain or give any input because this job is really good comparatively with pay and workload, but it just sucks that they are pushing for this. Maybe I have nothing to really be worried about and just feel ambushed because they sent the RTO announcement via email and provided no substantially planning…
If you know any good mental health resources or support for going back in office, that would be greatly appreciated
