I have been sick since last week and still managed to work because “we are short staffed & I am needed.” Before I left on Friday I prepared my desk for the next day I work and updated my computer and my phone to reflect the posted schedule. I had Saturday off and Sunday we were closed. I spent the whole weekend in bed sick, only getting up to get a Covid test. (I don’t have Covid, just a severe upper respiratory infection.) My team leader and assistant manager tell me to stay home until I am well. This morning I text my team and my manager to tell them I won’t be in (still have a fever and am ill.) I wake up to eight messages from my manager saying that I need a doctors note to come back to work. I tell I am only absent one day, besides that I have PTO due to me. He tells me that I cannot have my regular day off because I took today off. He tells me don’t worry just get a doctors note, I can’t get in to see my regular doctor until after Thanksgiving. He tells me to think of the team who have to compensate for my not being at work. Then I notice that he changed the schedule so I was working late tonight, when before I was opening. (There was plenty of coverage for both shifts.) I had written down the schedule as well as took a screen shot of the schedule before it was changed.
I have worked my arse off for this company. I come in early and I stay late to provide coverage when he screws up the schedule. I am at a loss.
