I have to admit, I'm getting really sick of people expecting everyone to starve, work into their 80s, or live a life of abject poverty for the cause. That's not your fucking decision or judgment to make.
Yes, I think it's abhorrent that people can extort others for money just by owning property. But you can bet your ass I'm going to buy a home and use it as an investment as I can. I'll even be a landlord if given the chance; I'll do my best not to be an ass about it, but I'll still do it.
Yes, I don't agree that someone who simply manages a team of experts should make more than all of them combined. But I'll take that job if I'm offered it; I'll just do my best to use the position of authority for good.
Why? Because our fucked up country (USA) doesn't have any functional system for retirement or any guarantee of decent pay/benefits. And I care about my family's safety, standard of living, and future security a hell of a lot more than I care about perfectly virtue-signaling all of my positions.
And yes, my individual actions on those items are, functionally, nothing more than that. Whether or not I rent out a property or two, or take a management position, makes zero difference to the survival of the system.
What I will do is continue to advocate to those in positions of authority that I have access to, vote, and keep the conversation going whenever I can. So please, stop hating on people who have something to protect and are therefore unwilling to be a martyr. Instead, try turning that energy towards giving thanks to those who are willing to make the big sacrifices.
