[ Rant ] Work in the US; especially the sciences

Is it just me, or is all “hard work” ethics bullshit? Yes, an employee is meant to put in quality work. HOWEVER : why does this mean many bosses also to do everything to compromise the integrity of that quality. With requirements to: default availabilty on demand, work brutal hours, make you a yes man, forgo your rights (which given one cycle becomes the default “standard”) ignore trauma in favor of work promote a work culture that mocks lower earners as “unmotivated” making employment deliberately scarce and arbitrarily creating “qualification requirements”. Don’t forget they are even in the bio sciences field too: Some commercial biotech places literally fire anyone who points out potential issues or questions authority. They even put up signs saying that wages are strictly confidential and should not be discussed. There might be a need for more sciences jobs but they deliberately underhire and overwork. Fuck; why…

Fuck; why are there only 12 residency positions per year in Alaska?!?

All of this. It just promotes submission and pits people within a ethnicity against each other ( since a good chunk of these employments try to be race diverse, but don’t address the root problem of manufactured job scarcity)

*Note: I’m south Asian and in the US. Thanks to the stereotype that we are all supposed to be so fucking smart, they hold us to a higher standard than counterparts
