Basically I work as unqualified staff (21F) at a nursery/childcare and over email had confirmed and agreed to a summer rota (usually I pick and choose off of existing free shifts). I’m on my holiday this week but back Monday and working Tuesday and have had my hours changed so I texted her this (we use business WhatsApps):
I have just realised my hours have all changed [redacted] I’m really sorry but when I checked through them and emailed back to confirm it was for those days and hours roughly 8-5.30. I understand to have some hours changed if it’s days when I am going to [redacted] (although I have already explained this is not the easier option for me transport/cost wise) but for the rest of my shifts I would have preferred to stay at ~8-5 as agreed, I’m not happy they got updated without giving me any notice, as I had other future commitments planned this summer such as trains homes for family birthdays and house viewings etc which were time sensitive, as I currently have no place to live as of August and need to commit evenings for viewings etc. Am I able to get back to my previous hours?
I’m just freaking myself out that she will fire me or disrespect my views etc but I have had the rug pulled out from under me I feel, I’m literally unqualified staff I don’t see why she could have suddenly changed my hours (finishing past 5/5.30 basically means watching the last few kids that are picked up last). I feel taken advantage of bc I’m a student with “no family” but I feel my hours are still important! If you were my manager would this message from ‘a kid’ piss you off?
