Received a check from an ex-employer as part of a class action lawsuit settlement. And a W2 to go with it.

The company in question under-payed / didn't pay people for overtime hours, got into a class action lawsuit, settled, and sent everyone checks. While I appreciate the extra money (it's just a couple hundred dollars; nothing huge or major), what bugs me is the W2 they sent along with it. I'm sure that that's the RIGHT thing to do, but also it just rubs me the wrong way. Like… YOU didn't pay us! YOU were at fault! Why the hell do I have to declare this as income and get another chunk taken out? It's just silly.
