recently started a new job, it’s a shitshow.

3 weeks ago I started with a company doing interstate trucking. I'm currently on my 3rd truck in 3 weeks as the other 2 are in the shop being fixed, and this “new” truck has some (what I consider) serious problems with it. There's a concerning clunk/bang/knock coming from the front suspension whenever I hit a bump or navigate a corner, and the brakes are all or nothing, keep skidding to a halt no such thing as gentle application. All their equipment is old and worn out. Dispatch routinely expect me to fudge my logbook in order to meet deadlines and then get shitty when I won't and run late on delivery / pick ups, which they've docked me pay for. I keep getting pulled up on paperwork issues that no one has explained to me, they all think the other depots have showed me their system. They haven't. Communication…

Communication isn't their strong point.

I got into the yard at midnight and am expected to unload at 6am. I've cleaned all my stuff out the truck and plan on sending the depot manager a text in the morning stating I have a family issue to attend to and won't be able to do another run. I have a medical instead for a company that will pay me 2x more and a better reputation for looking after employees ( and a brand new kenworth to drive ).

I know I shouldn't feel guilty about doing it this way, but I still do.. they've ran me that hard I've actually felt scared driving I'm that tired. It's companies like this that make me want to leave the transport industry.
