In the spring I tend to get 5 or 6 blind reach out a week. I always reply as if they are real but mostly they are people who dont know what they are doing asking someone with 13 years of experience to do an entry level job 60 minutes from their home on contract for 3 months.
I recieved a reach out recently and had some questions. The job seemed sorta close to what I am doing now so I thought I would respond.
I have some questions regarding you email.
- The subject line says “Producer” the mail says “Associate Producer” which is correct?
- Please clarify the pay band for this position along with any perks that might come working for this company
- Is this a work from home situation?
- What is the name of the company you are recruiting for?
- What does Duration: 12+ Months actually mean? is a contract position with the possibility of extending or a full time position?
- Please let me know the answers at your earliest convenience.
The Recruiter responded:

Producer or associate producer both are fine but game or entertainment experience is must for this role. -

- 12 months contract role if you are the right candidate possible to extend.
Well I chuckled that they was deemed acceptable and responded back.
Cool. You did not answer my other questions which for a job are the most important. I would guess that the numbers must be pretty low if they are not a selling point.
I currently WFH four days a week making XXXXX with Y weeks of vacation Z weeks of sick days a year, full benefits for my family.
Salary and benefits is a must know before even thinking about changing jobs. I’m surprised after COVID that recruits still routinely do not post pay bands and benefits. Seems odd when that’s the reason people get jobs in the first place.
