Recruiters are not your friend

I'm going to have interviews next week for 2 different jobs. One is directly through a company that will will call C and the other is through a recruiting agency well call G. C asked me for my availability next week for the interview. I talked with my current boss who is all for me going for a new job and said we will work around whatever schdule they give me. So I told them I have open availability. C told me they will give me the date and time as soon as they spoke with the 3 people I would be interviewing with to make sure availability lines up. G is a recruiting company that reached out to me from linkedin last week. They do offer a better pay but I have not been given any information on benefits (salary and benefits were provided to me by company C).…

They do offer a better pay but I have not been given any information on benefits (salary and benefits were provided to me by company C). They sounded nice on the phone and the job is well within my capabilities.

G reached out to me yesterday with a specific date and time next week for an interview. I told them I was waiting to hear back about my work schedule (not informing them I had another interview) and I would get back to them Friday. I did this because I gave C open availability and I do not want to accidently double book interviews for the same time.

Within the last 24 hours G has reached out to me twice on LinkedIn, 2 texts from 2 separate recruiters I've spoken to and 2 phone calls. Mostly all of that just this morning. I told them I'll let them know as soon as possible. If they bother me one more time today I will not be taking the interview.

Recruiters are only there for themselves and usually commission based. They use manipulate and borderline predatory tactics to try and conform you to them. I've had them screw me over in the past but I'm standing my ground this time. Especially if you are right out of college you are an easy target. Don't get taken advantage of and make sure you know all the details before ever agreeing to take a job through a recruitment company.
