I applied for a position at a company that I felt would be the next step in my career process and I was feeling so excited when they finally got back to me for an interview.
I met with the Recruiter and we had a conversation that brought up many red flags in the company.
First off, I was told the salary range that I listed on the application was far too high, (mind you I was asking for 45k which is literally not high at all), and that they would not be able to offer that, but the only reason I was not immediately rejected is that I was told I would need to work so much “overtime” because the company was in it's busy season that I would reach my salary range goal in the long run. Red flag.
Second, the company utilized personality and CCAT tests to weed out employees before they move any further. I was told that I had to get a specific score on these tests to move on to the next round. If you don't know what a CCAT is, it's basically bullshit SAT test that is supposed to test your math, English, and logic thinking in the dumbest way possible. There were 50 questions that I had to complete in 15 minutes. Red flag.
Lastly, after taking the stupid exams the recruiter calls me happy because I did a great job and they would like to schedule me for a panel interview. I was supposed to meet with a panel of 5 people for an hour-long interview on Zoom. She scheduled it and sent out invitations to everyone. In this call, she also started bringing up things that were wrong with my application that the panel would press me on, like why I'm looking for a new job when I've only been in my current position for less than a year. Red flag.
It comes time for the panel interview and I'm waiting and waiting, and nobody shows up to the meeting.
What a waste of time.
I sent a follow-up to the recruiter that I would not be continuing the process and just cutting myself loose at this point. I should've headed the warnings from the very first meeting, but being as naive as I am, I thought it would get better.
