My thoughts on this are brief. Back when workers got tossed into trash pile, many got meaningful help from employment. Many of these peeps were getting more money than when they were working since there was a 600 dollar a week increase given the emergency of the situation.
Now I knew that wouldn't last but so many people got a taste of actually being able to breathe for once in their lives. They could take time off AND not die because of it. Folks took on all sorts of activities meaningful to them or tried new things they had the time to try…and could live their life, at least for a few fleeting moments, without a loaded gun to their heads.
I'm only making this post to illustrate the point that people are much better off when they are not faced with the choice of meaningless servitude or death, As a thought exercise think on the things you believe you would like to do if our basic needs are met. I believe most people would want to live a life they feel fulfills them and their loved ones – even their communities. Then ask how much better society would be if people could follow what matters to each member when they are not forced into a Hobson's Choice (Catch 22) of either slaving for meager wages or death,
I think of it this way: Imagine we are on a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean, many of us, but a small group of occupants are eating all of the food and drinking all of the fresh water, leaving the rest of us to fight over their crumbs. What's the obvious solution? If you said, “toss them to the sharks” you get a cookie…I make good ones, too…Vegan Anzac ones and oatmeal…Everyone gets this, I think.
Or you can think that millions cannot have prosperity in America (the world) since only a few hundred are allowed to have a grotesque amount of prosperity while billions more are denied it. It is class war, folks…the other side is fighting and killing us every day and spends all it can to keep us from realizing it. How much better would you life be if you could live a life that allowed you to follow what gave meaning to it?
