I’m a teacher, driver Ed instructor, and I coach multiple sports when needed, even though I really don’t enjoy the coaching stuff. I recently came back to the football staff to handle the operations stuff because of a new head coach, they said they really needed me but I also coach golf at the same time, which I rather enjoy. To say the least my days are super long. Tonight I walked out of a meeting and told them I’m done after being told by the athletic director that the trainings they had me complete were the wrong ones and that I needed to do the other training instead. I informed them I will do no more trainings for a job that barely pays anything (roughly$1000 for 6 months of work) unless compensated for my time. Apparently my pay at the end of the season is supposed to cover this and I just need to do it. So I’m done, no more free labor from me and I’m definitely not giving in. My phone has been blowing up with text messages asking me to reconsider and “do the right thing”. I feel like I’m doing exactly the right thing for me. They are also asking me to train someone else to do the stuff I do but ignored me for several years when I asked them to let me teach someone the film setup and work. Without compensation I’m doing nothing.
