This is just a rant. I’m so infuriated and heartbroken for my sister; she is a high level Chef and has been working for an esteemed rehab facility as the Chef De Cuisine for three years. She started as a Sous Chef and when the Chef De Cuisine went on mat leave, she took the job on a contract. Then the mat leave turned into all kinds of other leaves (which I am highly supportive of!!!) and my sister ended up jumping in and being Chef De Cuisine for the past 3 years when the original Chef would announce days prior to her scheduled return that she wouldn’t be returning yet (mind you she’s been working with no benefits because it was “temporary”.) Every time they needed her she was there.
She poured her heart and soul into that Residence, worked 12 or 16 hour shifts, whatever they needed. Ran the whole kitchen, all her staff adore her, she has never even been told anything she needed to work on in her performance reviews. They were all glowing. Today, when finally deciding on a permanent Chef De Cuisine, they replaced her with an outside candidate. She is utterly devastated, that was her literal dream job and today they took it away from her. No explanation other than they went with someone with “a little more experience”… than the person who has been DOING THIS VERY JOB for years?! I’m so mad I’m shaking. Fuck corporations. She walked out on the spot as she should. Ugggh.
