Required to sign a write up?

So, my boss gave me a list of things to do for my 5 hour shift. I’m total it would take 7 hours to do. You would assume my boss would find it understandable that I could not get it done, right? Nope, I was told that I had a “reasonable” amount of time to get it all done and that I was “slacking off”. I explained that I it was impossible for me to get it done and even gave him a layout of exactly what I did that day, with the times I did each task. After him treating me like a child for 10 minutes and scolding me, he pulls out a paper and tells me to sign it. He explained that since I am getting written up I will need to sign this and acknowledge that. I explained I don’t feel comfortable because this could be used against me and it is essentially saying that I admit to doing wrong even though I don’t. He explained that I need to sign it and that I could be fired if I don’t. After back and forth for literally 20 minutes he said “well, when you come back to work, I expect you to sign it when you come in and if not then We won’t need you anymore”

Can they fire me for not signing this? I work in the US for Target. I can’t find any policy saying that I need to sign paperwork when getting in trouble. I can’t really find anything online regarding this. I could claim that I am signing it under duress but I don’t know if that will work.

What should I do?
