Resist, don’t let your work drain your humanity

Art is the greatest expression of humanity of our species. Not only are we deprived of it by having our lives sucked into work, our art is ridiculed, commodified and alienated from us. Art is the greatest expression of humanity of our species. Not only are we deprived of it by having our lives sucked into work, our art is ridiculed, commodified and alienated from us.

Let's fight for less working hours! So that more hours of art can exist.

Make no mistake, art that humanizes is not just the oil painting. It's the text or book written in an explosion of creativity, it's the dance performed in a moment of euphoria, it's poetry sung in a moment of suffering, it's a tool you create, it's a piece of furniture you build. Art creates and reproduces our culture as a people, art perpetuates individuals, art allows us to be more than the laws of physics allow.

Art is the deepest expression of a being's personality and history.

I know it's hard, I know our jobs drain us of any sense of life and pleasure. BUT WE MUST RESIST. Let's make art about it. And let's not let our expressions of ourselves be dictated by the market. If any gain is to be taken from it, let it be for what it is and brings us pleasure in being.

Art is also work, it is the work of the soul materializing.
