Hey y’all, I know something that we have all struggled with is determining our market value in corporate America. At many companies there are massive pay discrepancies, and high performers are paid less than new hires.

To get a feel for what you should be paid, or others in your role are making, here are some resources:

  1. Glassdoor. This website / app is pretty nice. It includes reviews about companies, and salary data for various positions. There are limitations in that the salary’s are self selected, and could potentially be out of date. Note that if you DO click on salaries, you can see the post date. This is particularly useful in Colorado, as job posting there are REQUIRED to include salary range.

  2. Indeed. This website is similar to Glassdoor, but I like Glassdoor better. However, you can get more data here.

  3. H1B salary data. This one is a nifty secret. The DoL requires that companies publish salary data for H1b employees. If you google H1B salary data and go to h1bsalary.online, you can look up companies and see their H1B salaries by position AND date. The “wage info” is the wage itself, and the “prevailing wage” is the legal minimum target that companies have to pay.

  4. Ask your coworkers. Let’s break the stigma!
