I've been in the restaurant/food industry for 12+ years. During the start of the pandemic, the company I worked for shut down and I had to move out of the city. I have been lucky enough to stay with family and take gigs here and there. I've been looking at jobs every single day and the pay is still so low and places to rent are so high. So I wanted to ask folks who have been working in the industry if they pivoted to another career and what kind of work it is. I love cooking so much, but I don't want to go back to these grueling hours and shitty pay only to have everything go just to rent.
