Hear me out and read this.
People don't understand the businesses they use the most pay the unliveable wage to their workers. If they are so useless and don't deserve a living wage why do you show up and consume the service so frequently?
Like imagine the way our society would look if these were actually viewed as professions. They should be! They are more valuable than any sector in the economy yet the workers are paid the least of any sector!
It's not the people coding the next tiktok or developing for Facebook that make the world spin and makes the highest revenues. It's the people working retail and the managers that don't get paid enough that keep them functioning.
These people keep modern society functioning because everyone from every profession uses the services they provide. These places have the highest demand of business across every sector. Easily bigger than tech.
And magically these jobs are some of the most stressful and intense physically and mentally.
PERSPECTIVE:
WALMART MAKES THE SAME AMOUNT QUARTERLY AS INTEL, AMD, MICROSOFT, APPLE COMBINED.
WALMART AND AMAZON MAKE MORE QUARTERLY THAN INTEL, AMD, MICROSOFT, APPLE, PFIZER, J&J, MODERNA, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, SNAPCHAT, AND GOOGLE!
People need to unite and stand up to these retail corps. They can afford to pay the lowest position plus insurance benefits $30/hr… it wouldn't hurt the company in the slightest.
