Boomers are so out of hand with what they think they deserve. Long story short, I work in vehicle insurance claims. This elderly couples parked and unoccupied vehicle being totaled by a driver with the same insurance company. They called in to inform us they're filing a corporate complain due to their adjuster. This is what their adjuster has done for them: Paid them the market value of their vehicle, and given them a little over a week with a free rental vehicle to shop for a car. Right after the couple was told their vehicle is unrepairable they immediately demanded to never speak to their adjuster and only wanted to deal with his manager. I looked at photos of their vehicle, the back half just doesn't exist anymore lol, nothing even there to fix.
They then spent the next hour and a half yelling simultaneously at me about how they don't have time to shop for a vehicle even though they're retired and have no kids. They demanded we pay them more than their vehicles worth so they can find a car they want. They demanded to have the rental vehicle we supplied at no cost to them for longer. They asked if “that's how we save money by hurting and stressing and causing pain and suffering for our customers.” I informed how policy limits worked and how what we gave them was basically the max limits, and they didn't like that of course.
Then they spent around fourty minutes asking “Why weren't we assigned an attorney like last time?” And after asking why would they need an attorney, and after research I informed them because their last claim involved them hitting a pedestrian, and since that pedestrian immediately was taking them directly to court right away we had to assign legal counsel because we defend them from legal actions due to us accepting that pedestrians damages and bills. I kept a positive attitude and really strived to pacify them but I think they just wanted to cry and scream, I've outlined we've given them what they're owed and more with the rental vehicle. I wish we honestly had the ability to hang up on these kind of customers.
TLDR; Entitled Retired couple demanding we give them more than what they had previously from an insurance claim, I explain that's not what happens, things go about as planned.
