Antiwork

Retirement isn’t what I thought it would be. I don’t envy the full time workers who pay my Social Security. Help me with a decision?

I'm fairly lucky to be disabled and get Social Security/not work any longer. That's pretty grim to say, that I'm glad to be disabled rather than the alternative. But it is what it is. I need to make extra money to afford food and medications, currently I pick and choose what meds to take. Social Security is a razors edge fixed income. Anyways, to the work part. I found a program through disability called ticket to work. They try to advocate for you and prepare you to work a part time job. I applied at several places saying I could only work part time due to my current circumstances and I only got one call back. Walmart had me interview and offered me a position as a greeter/loss prevention. I have 15 years of loss prevention experience and they offered me minimum wage and told me it would be part time. Then I get a call from them yesterday saying they need me to work 32 hours a week. I told them I can't risk losing my main source of income as social security has limits on the side cash I can earn. So now it's start applying all over again with my gaps in employment due to being disabled being questioned by every potential employer. Or accept minimum wage and increased hours and responsibility. Do I keep trying to find someone who will work with me and my limitations or take the only offer I have had in years and get paid shite and risk my SS?
