Sad Realization About Work Environment

Hello, I'm new to this subreddit but I've already found a lot in common. A few days ago at my retail job we were super understaffed and I was being berated by superiors over not being able to attend to all the customers in a timely fashion. I ended up re-straining a tendon in my forearm that I was recovering from because I was pushing myself so hard. The realization came to me that despite all of my hard work and all of my friendliness, I could quite literally drop dead on the sales floor and the first thing managers would be thinking is who will replace me instead of calling an ambulance or checking if I'm ok. Does anyone else feel like this or is it just me?
