Saw a couple upset about a traditional Japanese Sushi restaurant being closed between 2 and 5pm

They walked up to the door at like 2:30 and saw the hours: 10am- 2pm, 5pm-11pm. They were SO upset, scoffing and saying like “Ridiculous, why the fuck are they closed in the middle of the day?” “Doesn’t make any sense” I know in other cultures/countries many businesses close in the afternoon so people can nap, eat, take a break. Here in America God forbid anyone take a NAP when you could be working instead??? I often think how nice it would be to be able to close my eyes for a good 30 minutes before finishing the rest of my shift. That would be wonderful Edit: I realize that these hours probably have nothing to do with it being a Japanese restaurant. It just made me think of other countries that normalize having an afternoon break
