I've been applying for jobs on linked in and indeed and have a huge increase in spam calls – no surprise right?
I'm sadly becoming aware today of how many people have my data as a result of filling out apps
some of the calls I have received seemed pretty suspect
I also have applied directly on the companies website but have taken advantage of apps that can be autofilled by platform information… have landed some great jobs through tools like linked in's “easy apply,” but now I feel like I should be way more cautious…
if you're like me and presently searching, I wonder if you've come across scams disguised as job applications and/or have had ID theft or suffered other kinds of cybercrime as a result
if anyone has any strategies for vetting company websites, I'm also interested in what you look for!a few things I do are 1) check the website 2) check news results 3) check social media 4) look for reviews on glassdoor
thanks!
