School attendance is non-negotiable

During my interview, I was informed that I would be working 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. and that was not an issue for me. They told me that my school attendance would not be an issue. Now that I'm hired and starting my job they are informing me that if somebody calls out I am expected to stay after and miss school (which attendance is regulated by the VA and the FAA) then they tried giving me oddball hours from 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. which means I would get no sleep between work and school. And they are texting and calling me constantly acting as if I'm the bad guy for not wanting to work these shifts (and not working them) but they can't fire me because of how short staffed they are. I just got out of the military, and all I can say is thus far I am very much not impressed with how the civilian workforce treats its employees. It's literally worse than the military. All for $18.50 an hour….
