I was hired 3 years ago as a Benefits Specialist. I reported to the Benefits Administrator.
2 years ago, we got a horrid director that ran off most of our staff, including my boss. The director told me that I was now in charge of Benefits and wouldn't be getting any help. I was fine being in charge of Benefits and was able to manage.
The director ended up resigning and we got someone a lot better.
We were expanding, so we hired another Benefits Specialist. While she technically reported to the new director like I did, I was responsible for training and managing her.
Last year, a friend of mine was going to resign. As a counter offer, she was made the manager over the Benefits dept, even though I had been running things for a year.
It's incredibly frustrating to go from running the dept to having responsibilities taken away, and now we're being fucking micromanaged because of a couple of tiny mistakes.
I wish I had found this sub 2 years ago. I would have asked for a formal promotion and raise. Instead I'm in a power struggle with a friend and am losing…
